a little bit about me…

Almost 15 years ago I stumbled into yoga by accident and little did I know it would save me.

With a long history of diagnosed Anxiety and Depression layered on top of childhood trauma, I was severely disembodied and on a path toward destruction. The first yoga class I attended, I had a panic attack and walked out. But, I knew something was there for me. For the first time, I had truly inhabited my body, and it what my body spoke to me was unbearable pain that I had been avoiding to survive.

With the help of a yoga therapy mentor dedicated to supporting me in feeling safe, I began the steady walk home into my body. The work was humbling and beautiful. Beginning to experience embodiment for the first time in my life was the greatest awakening. Fast forward 2 years, and my panic attacks I had been experiencing weekly were gone. Fast forward 3 more years, and my yoga practice is the only thing that kept me going day after day when I gave birth to my daughter 16 weeks prematurely. Fast forward to now, and I have dedicated my life to supporting others as I once was supported- facilitating at high-risk schools, domestic violence shelters, and alongside therapists in their offices.

I am a yoga therapist in training through Inner Peace Yoga Therapy, and hold a 500 hr instructor training through Root: Center for Yoga and Sacred Studies- with additional certifications received in trauma informed yoga, trauma informed yoga for children, Ayurveda, and yin yoga (over 1000 hours of certified training.) I am also a Psychology student pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology so that I can do research on this incredible healing modality and support its integration into the clinical therapy world. I have been a trauma informed yoga facilitator for 8 years and teach private classes and group workshops online, locally on the Big Island, Colorado, and California, and am available for retreats worldwide.

I have learned from incredible teachers such as Indu Aurora, Mark Whitwell, Antonio Sausys, Jessica Patterson, Chinnamasta Styles, and Maria Shamas.

Are you ready to begin your walk home with me?

I’ve never made it through one yoga class, never once in my life. Today I made it through 70 minutes. This is the slow walk home. I feel like I did four sessions of talk therapy in one session.
